Fed: Man to appear in court charged with Brinks driver murder
A man will appear in court today charged with the murder of missing Brinks armouredvan driver MATTHEW KELLY.
The 31-year-old man from Tumbi Umbi, on the New South Wales central coast, is due toappear in the Wyong Local Court.
Mr KELLY was the driver of a van which was held-up and hijacked by four masked gunmenin the southern Brisbane suburb of Sunnybank in March 1999.
The thieves escaped with $2.7 million, making it one of the largest armoured van robberiesin Australian history.
Police suspect Mr KELLY may have played an inside role in the robbery.
They believe he was killed and buried somewhere in the Snowy Mountains after his abandonedcar was found south of Queanbeyan in late 2000 -- his body has never been found.
New South Wales police are appealing for public help in locating several items belongingto Mr KELLY, including a Presario 1200 Compaq laptop computer, a model not sold in Australia.
They're also searching for a set of golf clubs -- Ping irons with a distinctive Mizunodriver with a gold titanium head.
